Description

I've taken a great interest in the Ultimate Marvel series (Earth-1610) and seen how very...totalitarian it is, because it so closely resembles our world here.

So here's my answer to "sticking it to the man". The man in question would be Nick Fury. And Carol Danvers. And Gregory Stark. And the so-called "heroes" calling themselves The Ultimates.

This is Red Arachnid.

See, he was once just a regular guy, no powers at all. But one day, he had a dream. A dream as long as a lifetime, seeing into the future of everything that would happen. Grand Theft America, The Ultimatum Wave, and most of all, the undeserving death of New York's greatest hero: Spider-Man.

Then he woke up, and instead of forgetting the dream, he remembered it all, not to the smallest detail, but enough to understand and see the picture. S.H.E.I.L.D. became a currupt para-military force led by a paranoid Tyrant, Nick Fury, who tried so desperately to control the world and the superheroes so they could be used for the benifit of the American Government.

And so he gathered allies, friends with grudges and the smarts to fight back against an already currupt agency. He could already see S.H.E.I.L.D. would just turn into another HYDRA, only their attrocities would be sactioned by their own government, seeing as officials in office saw that the ends justified the means in an ever-growing genetic war to make more powerful super-soldiers.

When S.H.E.I.L.D. says mutants and meta-humans should be under the iron-thumb of the american government, Red Arachnid promptly gives them all the one-fingered salute and proceeded to fight with the strength and guile of a one-man army.

Red Arachnid isn't a terrorist. He's a revolutionary, fighting for the right to live as a free man, regardless of possessing powers beyond the average man; fighting for the rights of all people, mutants and human alike, to be respected and not used like tools for the secret-agendas of government agencies trying to get a powergrab.

Abilities:His powers were the result of deliberate injections using the Oz formula mixed with spider-venom and DNA, altering his physiology.

At peak-strength, he can lift 15 tons; Leap over a hundred-foot distance; and run as much as 100 mph. His endurance and balance have also been increased beyond peek-human limits, allowing him to perform feats of acrobatic skill to rival Spider-Man's.

His skin is as tough and durable as Kevlar.

Web-glands in his wrist fire spider-silk from his fingertips, the threads possessing th etensile strength of steel-cables. Each strand is sticky, and can support 5 tons per strand.

Under his tongue, he also possesses a unique gland that spits out paralytic/constrictive webbing and quick-hardening adhesive as tough as polymer.

Extra bones grow from both arms, two different kinds of spikes composed of dense carbon-fiber and calcium, harder than steel and able to extend and receed into his arms at will by way of muscle contractions.

Both his hands and feet sport miniature quil-like fibers that allow him to cling to virtually any surface, with the adhesion power great enough to hold 1-Metric ton per finger.

Skin and hairs on epidermis have grown hypersensitive, allowing Red Arachnid to pick up vibrations through solid-surfaces and granting a type of sonar/sound decyphering ability to discern for threats and "map" out his entire environment.

His early-warning system, his "Spider-Sense" instincts are more attuned to any and all dangers around him, even more so than Spider-Man's, utilizing all his sub-conscious senses and perceptions to determine the level -and location- of the danger(s) surrounding him. Temprature variations, wind-change, pharomones, body language, peripheral hearing and vision combine to grant Red Arachnid precious seconds of warning to evade danger.

Equipment consists of ceramic-steel body armor and shin-greaves, tri-weave kevlar suit and jacket composed of similar balistic-resistant material, solid carbon-fiber helmet beneath mask, tool belt containing artillery(9-mm ammo, several grenades, plastiques, garrots, explosive charges, tracking devices, knives, etc.).

Holy shit, that's the longest typed up description I've ever done for one of my art-pieces.

And yes, I did use the same outfit from Spider-Man's "Final Costume" [link]
Whoo, lookit the time, gotta run, bye!

Not a bad character, just seems a tad too powerful, his abilities both rival and surpass Spider-Man? Kinda reminds me of the Spider-Man: The Other story arc as well.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-M…
Many of the new powers Peter developed during "The Other" (and the powers obtained from his incident with the Queen) have not been used or referenced in several years. His night vision and arthropod communication powers were rarely ever mentioned after the storyline in which they were introduced, and his stingers were stated to only come out during special circumstances, such as when he was confronting a magical threat. Following the One More Day storyline, he apparently lost his ability to create organic webbing, although no explanation has been given for why. He still retains his boosted levels of strength, speed, and agility, his enhanced healing factor and spider-sense, and his connection to the "Web of Life."
